Calli

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Hello, my name is Calli. I’m 27, a wife, a mother of two perfect boys (ages 2 & 4), and a CrossFitter. I am privileged to be able to stay at home with my boys. I’m a firm believer in mothers taking time to care for themselves, and in doing so they become better wives, mothers, and homemakers. It stands true for me 100 percent! When I feel good, pretty, or fit, my day is productive in one form or another. For me those things don’t come easy... I work hard keeping up with my boys, and and keeping in shape, and keeping our home tidy and clean, and smoothing over any bumps in the road I come across. I find GREAT importance in feeling good about myself especially after kids, and more importantly... for my husband! (Poor guy has seen the worst of me and still loves me!) I’ve never felt like a fashion forward kind of girl, and have always felt kinda quarkie in the things that I’ve been attracted to, but that’s me. I’ve found my style to be a little bit
more relaxed/beachy. I LOVE skirts, I wear them often.

When I shop, I keep it simple. I shop for the long haul, making sure the pieces I choose are “timeless”. Of course I also have to consider the chances of them getting ruined, with two little boys! I love clothing exchange stores. There is always a diamond just waiting to be found! Being a CrossFitter, I tend to stay away from jewelry all together. Although, I do have two anklets, and a toe ring. What gives me drive is my CrossFit! Being fit can make you feel sexy in a pair of sweats! I have a blog (www.crossfitwomen101.com) where I not only post most of my CrossFit workouts & journey, but I also feature CrossFit athletes! Beginners, Trainers, Competitors (and everything in-between) are welcome. It’s a site that I hope will help motivate a healthy lifestyle. As most CrossFitters are, I’m very passionate about it, because it becomes a life style (not just a workout). It’s about finding your best self. (When you are healthy you feel better in all your clothes!) In my CrossFit journey I have a better outlook on life, and feel more prepared for the future. I am thankful for Jamie, and Stylin' Mommies! I've looked to this blog for inspiration many times!

Simple in Black

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

A simple black dress is a basic in my closet. I don't care if it's summer or winter you can wear a black dress all year around. This dress is really light weight and a sheer type fabric so its very light weigh for summer. Throw on some cute boots or sandals and you have an easy look that anyone can do.

Dress: Cotton On (old)
Necklace: Bohme
Boots: Maurices
Bow: My friend Lauren made it:)

Going Short

Monday, July 22, 2013

Hi Mamas!  Jaana here, from ThisMomsGonnaSnap.com, to talk to you about hair.  Long hair has definitely been all the rage. Ombré styles and beach waves are still rockin’.  Topknots are practically a blogger staple. I, personally, was really enjoying my little topknot - before I got the urge.  If you've had short hair, you’ll probably know what I’m talking about.  This urge comes on suddenly, like overnight.  And then it’s like you can’t get rid of your hair quick enough!

I spent a good month thinking about cutting my hair again before I actually did it.  I had been growing it out for over 2 years, so I wanted to make sure I was ready to part with my longer locks.  When I realized I couldn't get these short haircuts off my mind, it was time to take the plunge.  I wanted to go big or go home so I went for a pixie cut - the shortest my hair has ever been.

About a week before my appointment, my stomach was in knots.  All my self-doubts came to the surface.  Short hair would show off my pimples, my wrinkles, my double chin.  This was a huge mistake waiting to happen!!  But sometimes when I’m lacking in confidence, I have to fake it ‘til I make it.  So I walked into that salon, head held high, took a deep breath and had her lop off my thick ponytail.  At that point, I think my stylist was more nervous than I was!

I have been enjoying my new summer cut immensely.  Sure, when I first wake up in the mornings, I look like a teenage boy.  But it’s given me so much more freedom - time to play with my make-up, accessories, and feminine details, I don’t feel like a boy for long. I actually feel sassy and daring, even though I’m hardly either of those things.  Looking forward to the rest of a carefree summer (do those exist anymore?) and I plan on keeping this pixie ‘do well into the fall and winter!

Some people like short hair more than others, it’s not for everyone.  (Luckily my husband is my biggest fan.)  But if you've ever thought about going short, I say do it!!  You only live once, as they say!  Besides, it’ll always grow back…

Boho Chic

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Today I am wearing a few of my favorite things. First I have to talk about the amazing jewelry I am wearing from Saressa Designs. Everything they have is so amazing!  Go to their site and check out all the great bracelets, necklaces and other pieces of jewelry.  I guarantee you'll love it.

Another item I am obsessed with is my top. I love a loose fit boyfriend fit top and I have been on the hunt for one for a while and I finally found one I love! So of course I had to get multiple colors. :) I hope your all having a great week!

Graphic T

Thursday, July 11, 2013

For running a so-called fashion blog I sure do really love a good old t-shirt and jeans. It's just so comfortable and practical as a mom on-the-go. I love this t-shirt I just recieved from Skip N' Whistle . I laughed out loud  looking over their funny shirts. Nothing better than a graphic tee. The fit and material are great too!
