Stylin' Mommies

Nicole

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Hello! I am honored to be on Stylin Mommies today!

My name is Nicole and I am a mom and photographer living in Eastern Idaho. I have three sweet and crazy kiddos and am expecting my fourth. So, with a busy household to manage and a busy partnership at my studio, it's sometimes hard to be conveniently stylin. But... in our line of work where we help style and makeover the clients we shoot in our sessions, it's important to make sure we can style ourselves. So, my "go-to" wardrobe pieces are those that are comfortable and functional for my life at home as a mommy, but still stylish enough for work.

You can usually find me sporting skinny jeans (or a maxi skirt), boots, and a blouse. Blouses are a STAPLE in my closet instead of tees. They allow me to be comfortable at home, and not too dressy, but still dress up a more casual pair of skinnies and boots for a meeting with a client or a fashion shoot. In the cold winter months I can throw on a nice blazer or a even a leather jacket to keep it warm, but stylish.

Amanda

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Hello! My name is Amanda and I am a mommy of one beautiful and sweet two year-old boy! I wanted him in a photo or two with me but he fell asleep before we took the pics! Darn it! Haha. After 7 moves to different states, my husband and I are finally  settled and live here in Idaho where we were both raised. We are lucky enough to have both of our families within 15 minutes of eachother! I work part time as an esthetician and must admit that I prefer my days at home doing crafts and activities with my baby boy, and miss him when I’m gone!

It is February and FREEZING in Idaho, so anytime I can wear a comfy sweater and boots, while still making it fashionable I am thrilled! Also, since we are expecting a new lil bundle of joy in August, dressing comfy is a must for me right now, so these soft and stretchy jeggings are perfect! I love a pop of color and am currently trying to add more color to my wardrobe since my usual go-to color is black!

This blog is so fun to follow and I’m excited to be able to do this post for Jamie. The ideas and outfits from all of these cute mommies are inspiration for me to get ready every day, even if I don’t plan on leaving the house for the day! I have realized in 4 years of marriage that getting ready every day is important for my self- esteem and motivation too. When I feel pretty and good about myself, I am for sure a happier wife and mommy.

Grandpa Sweaters

Friday, February 22, 2013

This is definitely my weekend wear. A big sweater and flats. I am really loving this so called "grandpa sweater". They are soft and baggy and wonderful! I am also so in love with my new flats from Very Jane. I have found leopard shoes to pretty much go with anything! Whenever someone askes me what's a comfortable, stylish shoe that goes with anything, I always say a leopard flat. They are the best! So when I saw these cute loafer looking ones on Very Jane's daily deals I had to snatch them up.Very Jane is  an online store full of amazing deals they do daily. I'm always excited to see what their deals are each day!

Heather

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Hey everyone!  Here I am in all my 36-week-prego-glory!  Okay, so the gloriousness of being at the end of a pregnancy may be debatable, but there is certainly a lot of me right now.  I am Heather, a wife, a mom of 3 (almost 4), a piano teacher to 23 students, and an Activities Director for over 300 young women, ages 12-18.  Needless to say, my life can prove to be a little busy most of the time.  This little one is going to have to learn to roll with the flow from the time she gets here!

As far as style goes, I love it, but do not have time to be finicky.  I firmly believe it is just as easy to put on a comfy, yet cute, shirt as it is to put on a frumpy t-shirt.  That being said, don't we all feel better if we feel any degree of cuteness as opposed to frumpy?  So why not trade in those baggy t-shirts for even a tailored t-shirt instead?  I like to wear clothes that have cute colors and prints, and that have cute, flattering cuts.  I also refuse to wear clothes that are super high maintenance.  Dry-clean only and must-be-ironed pieces are generally not an option for me.  Bottom line, I need to wear something that looks nice, but remains practical to get me through my day.  The outfit I put on in the morning must transition me from being mom of an 8, 6, and 4 year old, and baby, to being a working mom who runs her own piano studio, to a mom who attends meetings with various leaders in our community concerning the youth in our area, with little effort in a single day.  I am far from high maintenance, but consider it doing myself a favor to get up and get dressed at the beginning of every day.  When I do this, I feel prepared to take on whatever my day will throw at me with confidence.

In more "normal" stages of life (a.k.a. when I am not expecting) I love heals.  My 5'2" frame could use all the vertical help it can get!  Heals can dress up any outfit, and adds spunk and personality.  However, days I have more time to simply go on walks, or take my kiddos to the park, I have no problem donning sporty shoes.  As for right now, I am resigned to wearing flats and loving them!

I do love accessorizing!  Taking the time to add earrings and a necklace or scarf can take a simple outfit to a more completed look.  I love finding good deals, and even consigning.  I also openly admit my weakness when it comes to jackets and sandals.  Those are the two items I would have way too many of if I am not careful!  This blog is such a great way to encourage all of us moms to take a couple extra minutes each day to take care of ourselves.  I claim to be just as busy as any other mom, but have learned the value in not neglecting myself.  It is possible to find balance in this area, and not let ourselves go.  We all owe it to ourselves, and to our families to keep our confidence up while still prioritizing our kiddos and spouses.

Ali

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Hi everyone! I feel so honored to be on this blog with all you other styling mommies! I have seen so many cute mommies out there and you guys just blow me away with your style.

My name is Ali from Dream Crafter. I am a wife to a grad-student and avid mountain lover. My sweetie and I have been married a little over four years and we have two VERY active boys. We have a two-year-old and a one-year-old and they are only 14 months apart, so they keep me on my toes. When we got pregnant with our second, I said to my husband, "Hey! Now I am going to be outnumbered! There will be more boys than girls around here!" He replied, "Honey, you were already outnumbered." Oh yeah....

Being in a house full of boys makes it a little hard to stay in touch with my girly side. When you are playing trucks, basketball or just wrestling you need to be able to move in your clothes. We like to do things like camp, bike, take walks and just be outdoors. I like to chose clothes that are bright AND comfy. They keep me feeling happy and I can dodge a toy car thats being chucked at my head if needs be. Its a win/win. I love this top because its loose enough to move in and has a fun print to keep some visual interest. Pair it with a funky hat and you are ready to go out in the freezing cold with a little more style! I hope everyone is staying warm out there!
